Paul taylor is "hot" right now, elevated by his recent Emmy Award and Kennedy Center honor. Of the 17 dancers in the company, Asnes is among the hottest. In a modern dance world hierarchy normally determined by seniority, he has been receiving, as he modestly puts it. "some of the very good roles." He says, "I just happen to be in Paul's favor right now." Asnes is not likely to become a household name soon ("It's not an art form this culture values that highly," he admits), but that may change over the next few years. "I'd like to get into choreography, maybe some film work," he says. "Those kinds of projects, obviously, put your name in front of a lot more people."
