Assistant District Attorney, The Bronx
Specializing in narcotics and homicide cases, Jamie Phillips has just returned to the Bronx following a two-year loan to the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan, where he helped prosecute a violent gang of heroin traffickers who protected their turf with machine guns and explosives. His work brings him into contact with the worst side of human nature. "It's a great feeling when they say 'guilty,'" he says. "Some of these people are soul-dead."
