Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs, Oberlin College
What does a fundraiser do after facilitating the largest gift in Dartmouth's history? In Young Dawkins's case, he accepts a position at Oberlin College. Dawkins, who until recently was Dartmouth's director of major gifts, was the College contact on the $30 million grant to build an ambitious library extension. He is one of the fastest-rising stars among education fundraisers, who are the elite of their profession. So what's act three? "I never want to give up the prospect of asking people for money," says Dawkins. "People are never nicer than when they're being generous." Dawkins, who holds a Dartmouth master's degree in liberal studies, also writes poetry.
