Dartmouth 1926's gift to the world: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was created by Classmate Bob May, who taught Rudolph how to lead Santa Claus's reindeer team on Christmas Eve through very foggy weather so that presents could be given to children all over the world. The story was then put to music in a manner never to be forgotten.
Bequest chairman Kier Boyd told of Pittsburgh's 22° below zero, which broke an 1896 record. He remembered he didn't have to go out, though, and his granddaughter only postponed a visit. Kier was one of four retirees of the local J & L Steel Corp. who met periodically, but now only he is able to continue being thankful the friendship lasted so long.
Abbie Seasongood, Cincinnati, Ohio, phoned your scribe asking where class dues and Alumni Fund checks should be sent. An answer was provided and an offer to direct same through the mails. News of classmates and Hanover doings were thoroughly discussed. Later another call came from Ed Hanlon from snow-free Sarasota with thanks for his class birthday greeting. Class historians apparently stay youthful, and Ed is proof.
The Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, had a cap on sale that Hans Don norstrand North Hill, obviously needed for local trails. At Christmas Dick Husband also bought one to wear and sent another to Don, who noted he had one, so Dick suggested Art Wilcox. Off it went to Greenwich, N.Y., with hope that Art will wear it!
