APRIL 1994 Douglas Ireland,

It was so tempting. With my 600-word allotment, if I reprinted the entire letter for my column, I would be covered through September 1995. But alas, we must give everyone an opportunity for notice. The temptation came in the form of an 11 page letter chronicling the life and times of class Diva Evy Chan. Synopsis is necessary but difficult. Evy has spent some painful years in a difficult marriage grappling with family, career, happiness a great many issues. She now has her career on an exciting new path, studying music she never conceived would be her milieu. She has a new friend with whom to share it, and she's living in a chic town outside Paris where she is very happy. To quote, "I want the moon and I think I may have finally found it." For others who may have or may be struggling with like issues, Evy sends her love and encouragement.

I received news about another artist in our class this month. Steve Rooks is a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York and teaches at the Graham school and the Alvin Ailey School. The letter from a student says that Steve is "BRILLIANT AND BEAUTIFUL to watch." There was a Graham photography exhibit at Baker Library recently, and hopefully Steve was recognized for his gifted dance and teaching at that time.

Nobody said I could be trusted with this job. I got a letter from Nancy Dove notifying me that she and her husband, Ron Dove, had a set of identical-twin daughters in November. She had hoped to surprise Ron with the notice in the column, but I was so happy to hear from them I called Ron before I read the part where she asked me to keep it secret. Sorry, Nancy. Ron has kept up with several classmates,, notably Jeff Soliows and Andy Benson. Jeff is reportedly in Florida working in real estate, and Andy just started a new home-surveillance company, a service that the campus police wish they had installed at Heorot during our years. Meanwhile, Ron is loving the family and work scene in Burlington.

Garth Greimann's election to general partner at his Boston LBO firm made the Wall Street Journal a while back, so I gave him a call. It seems life in Wellesley is good for Garth and Lindsay Larrabee. Lindsay cares for their three children while Garth does his deal thing for Berkshire Partners. Lindsay still complains of deadline panic attacks from her days as class scribe. God bless, Lindsay.

Some tidbits from the archives. Another past officer, Drew Kintzinger was recently elected president of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Drew is a partner in Briggs and Morgan law firm in Minneapolis. Congratulations.

In other legal circles, John Tarantino was named president and chairman of the executive committee for the law firm of Adler Pollock & Sheehan in Providence. And congratulations to Cort Delaney for his longoverdue election to partnership in Cummings & Lockwood law firm in Stamford, Conn.

Finally, a request from Class Treasurer Mark Collins has come in for classmates to pay their class dues. The cost of this august publication (not in secretarial compensation) continues to mount, and any increased participation would really help our ability to pursue other class projects like reunions and Dick's House. Thanks. Talk to you soon.
