"A person who engages in a lifelong pursuit of education ... can continue to grow in understanding and moral stature." President Freedman on Harry S. Truman Doug Mitman and Terry Perkins Mitman have moved to the Czech Republic. Doug is setting up a merger-and-acquisition firm in Prague for Einhorn Associates, a U.S. based firm. Meanwhile, Terry is enjoying motherhood with baby Siena Li, born last May. Diarmuid O'Connell has visited, jumping over from nearby Warsaw. Doug and Diarmuid will be running the Prague marathon in June and invite fellow classmates to join them. Bill Marozas has already accepted the challenge and will visit the duo that month. Terry intends to watch and provide first aid!
Also on the move is Sarah Cotsen, who writes that she has just moved to Atlanta and is hoping to locate other Dartmouth classmates there. She is working for Turner Entertainment as a director of business development. If you are in Atlanta, why not look Sarah up? Sarah Geithner Adam recently moved to Kingston, Jamaica, to do economic-development work with her husband. And Liz Musser Spurr has just started a new job at Runners magazine.
Heath Richter Barker writes that she and her husband, James, have just had their first child, Margaret Hope, born in December. Little Margaret weighed in at a slender ten pounds, seven ounces (you are a saint, Heath!). Janet Friday just finished her pediatric residency at Boston Children's Hospital and is now doing a three-year fellowship in Emergency Medicine at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. Becky Coverdale is finishing her master's in marine biology at Humboldt State in California and is applying to marine biology Ph.D. programs.
Virginia Rhoads writes, "Quit the corporate life at General Mills in June '92 and haven't looked back! Am now living in Chicago with Andy Block, who is finishing law school at Northwestern so we can get married in May. We met in Kenya on a NOLS trip in 1985 but just recently got back in touch and fell in love in the midst of a blizzard up in New Hampshire last March. I am doing contract work for various adventure-based management-consulting businesses and hope to someday make a living in climbing gear!
And news from Christine Hellauer , who just moved to Florida with her husband, Curt Ollayos '84. Curt is a military physician in the U.S. Navy. The two were shipped out to Orlando from Bethesda last October. Christine has been quite busy, with three boys aged three and a half, two, and four months. Thus she is quite happy being so close to Disney World, Sea World, and the Florida beaches. Christine still works for her Maryland employer, Williams, Thatcher and Rand, an employee-benefits consultancy. Also take note, Suzanne Pepper Christine would like to get in touch with you.
On that note, many people write to me to ask if I know how to get in touch with one of our classmates. It's fairly easy. Call the Alumni Records Office at Dartmouth. They should be able to help you!
