The women's lacrosse team, after a highly successful regular season which won the Ivy crown, was ranked second in the nation and made it to the semi-finals of the NCAA Division I title matches with a bye. There the women lost to Princeton, 13-8, a team they had beaten earlier. Co-captain Lauren Holleran '95, who led the team with 53 goals and 20 assists, was named National Offensive Player of the Year. First-team Ail-American honors went to Holleran Jenny Edwards '95, and Sarah Devens '96. (A tragic coda to the season was the untimely death of Devens. An obituary appears on page 76.)
