The phones have been busy the last month. Ted Renna has been in Peterborough, I N.H., for more than 20 years, practicing in ophthalmology. After Dartmouth he went to Harvard Medical School and interned at Mary Hitchcock. He and Linda live in an 1810 cape in nearby Hancock village. Daughter Anne '98 is now working for a biotech firm in Boston. Their twin sons are juniors in college at the University of Vermont and Montana State (I guess they wanted to get apart!), both majoring in engineering. A favorite hobby of Ted's is flyfishing, which the boys enjoy doing with him. Linda keeps busy as office manager in Ted's office plus as a chairman of the board of trustees of the local hospital and as a trustee of the library and a conservation group called the Harris Center. Ted occasionally sees Dave Irwin, who owns and runs a local nursing home in Peterborough.

Class president Steve Calvert is on the move again. After a change in university administration at Brown, followed by what he calls "irreconcilable differences," he left there recently to become the executive director of alumni relations at Northeast-ern University in Boston. Patti, too, moved, to Norwood (Mass.) Hospital, where she is a clinical nurse specialist. They will keep their Bristol, R. I., home and share a split mode commute of car pool and commuter rail. Daughter Tiffany has returned from doing art projects in California and is about to head off to Japan to teach English for two years. Steve brought her back from the west during the summer in a nice fatherdaughter bonding experience, with stops in Las Vegas, Boulder Dam, Grand Canyon (experienced by starlight!) and that American mecca, Graceland. Daughter Elizabeth will graduate from UNH this spring with a degree in marine science, and a specialty in warm water aquaculture. Her future is somewhere south...one can't stretch the definition of warm to fit New England waters.

Andy Epstein is a partner in the Bard Group, a 2-year-old health-care consulting firm. From Dartmouth Andy went to Case Western Reserve Medical School, followed by residency at the University of Colorado. He met Karen Ingalls in Cleveland while in medical school, and they married in 1974. They traveled the world for a full year, with six months in Asia. In the Boston area since 1977, he worked at Harvard Community Health Plan for 20 years, first in internal medicine and later coordinating education and training for residents caring for HCHP patients at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He grew increasingly interested in performance improvement through facilitiating physicians working with each other and with hospitals, and went into consulting first on his own and then with his current group, which has grown from three to 20 people in only two years. Andy is having a blast. Son Eli is 22, living in Brooklyn, N.Y., aiming to develop his own record company.

Andy keeps in touch with Jim Payne, pianist extraordinaire at our 30th Reunion, and Dave Stromeyer, and suggests we report in a future column on Dave's custom design for his new house in Austin, Texas. Hope the first months of the new millennium are treating you well.
