Our class has had a busy summer meeting up with fellow classmates and preparing to face new opportunities and challenges. I have lots of news to report, so I'll jump right in.

At the beginning of June, Brandon Purcell's parents (Sanna and William Purcell '63) hosted a going away party for Brandon right before he left for Benin, West Africa, for two years with the Peace Corps. The event could be counted as a mini-reunion, as 'OO alumni in attendance included Trestney Hung, Mackenzie Alpert, Matt Nelson, Andrew Rymer, Doug Newton, Jon Piskorowski, Gerry Cadava, Aaron Fischman, Jason Lipinsky, Nick Demartini, Alex Hocherman, Mike Horwich, James Friedman, Ross Fenderson, Andre Bishay and Peter Coffin.

CC Roque and Kate Christiaanse have been having their own mini-reunions in Telluride, Colorado. "We've already had a bunch of Dartmouth cats come visit us. Most recently Charles Drimal moved out here, and during the Bluegrass Festival in June we partied with Meaghan Fanning, Meghan Sullivan, Emily Fenwick, Melanie Kay, Sarah Snip, Ben Rifkin, Liz Merritt 'O1, Nick Ratliff'99 and a group of in town for a bachelor party. We're looking forward to more visitors this summer and next winter, including some '01s who are moving out here in the fall. Maybe we will have to form a Dartmouth Alumni Club in Telluride?"

When Eric Buchman hasn't been working on our class newsletter, he's been on the go. He writes, "Since my political work ended in February (I was a campaign coordinator for a congressman from Tampa), I've traveled a good bit around the country, trying to find a new locale to settle in. I've visited New Orleans, New York City, and Nashville and Portland, Oregon, so far. Should the congressman decide to run for governor, I'll probably stay in Florida to campaign for him again, but until then I'm preparing to be out of the state by the end of the summer. I've also been doing a good bit of writing over the last few months too, so I'm hoping that might lead to something (and save me from a political career). But we'll see."

On the graduate school front, David Gacioch wrote that graduated in June with the '01s and was at home in central New York for the summer working as an emergency medical technician. In August he will be heading to Ithaca to start law school at Cornell. Dave has been in touch with Jason Deeken consistently and he and his fiancee are moving in August from Boston to Chicago, where Jason will continue to work for Monitor Consulting.

In addition, Rashaad Green reports that he "just finished my first year of three at NYU Tisch School for the Arts for Acting. Although extremely challenging, I had lots of fun during the process. I realized how little I actually knew, but I have confidence in my potential growth. For the summer I performed in the Colorado Shake- speare Festival at CU." Also, Nikki Dielo is "now officially a Gator!" She is starting veterinary school at the University of Florida (in Gainesville) in August and offers an open invitation to go play in the sun of Florida!

Lastly, the Dartmouth Alumm Magazine will be focusing on Dartmouth's "special places" for the January/February 2002 edition as away to "document the 'sense of place' that the College has long enjoyed...tell us what your favorite spots on campus are and why." Please feel free to submit any thoughts to me via e-mail and I will forward submissions to the DAM as well include them in the January/February Notes column.
