Between classes in Hanover, John Brett '00 is helping directan arm of the national GreenParty. After co-chairing theRalph Nader 2000 campaignin Hanover, Brett was namedto the steering committee ofthe party's new national student group, Campus Greens.Last August he helped writethe group's bylaws and visionstatement, which stresses theenvironment, local economiesand non-violence. Brett is alsohelping channel Dartmouthstudents' interest in the environment, most recently founding a roundtable to organizethe efforts of the College's 10environmental groups. "Peopleoften say that after the shantytowns on the Green, activismdisappeared at Dartmouth,"says Brett. "I disagree; I thinknow students are coming together to reformulate what itmeans to be an activist." Brettis considering a position withthe Green Party or other environmental nonprofits after hegraduates in June.
