OK, get out your appointment book and follow me closely to get it right. The mini-reunion this year is October 3-4 and the game is against Pennsylvania. This is the best weekend of the fall—guaranteed (you read it here) that the foliage will be beautiful, temperatures perfect and the game a winner. John Stearns is the chairman (603-643-8242). Got that? Get your buns up to Hanover. Next, write down June 14-16, 2004, for the 55th reunion. Much information on the details of this will be forthcoming via the newsletter and other mailings. Mike Marchese and Matt Fenton and their lovely ladies have already committed to bunking at our household in Grantham, so other hopeful swill have to make do in local hotels. The "Spring Break" Caribbean cruise was reported to be a smashing success, attended by the Stearns, Everatts, Gramstorffs, Swartzes, Gordon Thomas and Gloria Simcox. Susan Everatt supplied appropriate colorful T-shirts for all. Matt Fenton and I enjoyed a nice lunch with Paul Bjorkland down in Florida (especially nice since Paul picked up the check!). Our sympathy to Paul on his loss of Ginny after a long and gallant fight with kidney problems. Paul did have his family with him, particularly a good-looking little bucko who really loves his grandpa. In this issue will be the obituary for Jack English '50. Many of you will remember this talented pianist who gave such a memorable performance at our 50th reunion. As seems to be the case with more disturbing frequency, I must report the sad loss of a number of our classmates. Chet Palmer, George Hinners, Paul Richwagen and Bob Grider all died in the past few months. Also Peter Kapeluck, who led an interesting life with the Secret Service and the CIA. Since he was fluent in Russian, he accompanied the tour of the United States by then Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. President Wright visited southwest Florida in March and met with a large gathering of Dartmouth folks. He expressed considerable concern that, for the first time, Princeton had achieved a higher percentage of participation in alumni giving than had Dartmouth. Come on guys; Princeton?! There's a challenge for us, especially for those who have not yet given this year or who do not normally give. Come on, cough up something to get that participation rate up. The rest of Jim Wrights comments continued to reinforce to me that the campus is in good hands and those of you far away can rest easy.
