MEET THE MOST RECENT HONOREES
Peggy Epstein Tanner '79, William H. King Jr. '63, Barry Maclea '60 , and Charles Nearburg '72, Th'74 recently received Dartmouth Alumni Awards and Veree Hawkins Brown '93 received a Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award for extraordinary service to the College. With her award Tanner becomes part of the first father-daughter pair of recipients (father ther Alan Epstein '47 received one in 1996). A former Morgan Stanley vice president, Tanner retired to raise a family and volunteer in her Harrison, New York, community and for the College, as Alumni Councilor and member of the Tucker Foundation board and President's Leadership Council. King is in his 40th year at Richmond, Virginia-based law firm McGuireWoods where he has worked as vice chairman and partner, and in Hanover has served as trustee for a decade (ultimately chairing the board). Alumni Councilor and on major College policy and fund raising commitee Mac Lean, president of the family businessMacLean-Fogg Lock Nut Cos. in Mundelein, Illinois,has served the College as trustee, president of theDartmouth Society of Engineers and as a memberforfor 33 years—of the Thayer board of overseers. Nearburgwho runs his oil and gas exploration andproduction company during the week and races carson weekends, hosts the Thayer School Formula SAEteam each spring in Dallas, Texas; he is also a memberof the Thayer Dean's Fund. Brown, the marketing directorof airline relations at Travelocity, conductsalumni interviews (with husband Bert '92) in the Dallasarea and has served as fundraiser. Alumni Councilorand president of the Dartmouth Club of Dallas(recognized during her tenure as best mid-size club ofthe year).
