Perched atop 13-foot flexible poles, Strange Fruit, an ensemble from Australia that fuses dance, mime and circus-style acrobatics, performed to a crowd of several hundred people on the Green in June. The performance marked one of several free outdoor arts events brought to campus by the Hopkins Center. Other programs in the series included a dramatization on the Green of Ovid's Metamorphoses and a mandala sand-painting ceremony on the Collis plaza by Tibetan monks.
