>>> George Spivey '68, a retired educator and a member of NAACP-Cape Cod and Concerned Black Men, has received the 2014 Louise Gaskins Life- time Civil Rights Award from the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Earlier this year the former principal and math and history teacher in Falmouth and Barnstable public schools earned the Falmouth Clergy Association's first award for human rights work and community leadership.

>>> Jim Lustenader '66, an amateur photographer from Hanover who specializes in story- telling through street scenes, has been named Photographer of the Year at the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards. His black-and- white shot of two well-dressed women on a boardwalk in At the Races 4 (call4artists.com/Gallery_6th_Pollux_Award.php) also won first place in the "culture and daily life" categoiy and will be exhibited at the Munici- pal Museum in Malaga, Spain.

>» Robert Glovsky '73, a prin- cipal of Boston-based finan- cial advisory firm Colony Group, has been appointed to President Obama's Advisory Council on Financial Capabil- ity for Young Americans, which advises the president and the secretary of the U.S. Treasuiy on how to promote financial capability.

»> Jack Ferraro '67 has earned the Samuel C. Johnson Distinguished Service Award from Cornell University's Johnson School, from which he received an M.B.A. in 1970. A former money manager and partner at N.Y.C.- based Neuberger & Berman, LLC, Ferraro served on the school's advisory council for 20 years and now sits on the advisory board of its Parker Center for Investment Research.

»> Erika Meitner '96, an asso- ciate professor of English at Virginia Tech, has received a Fulbright award to work on a collection of poems and teach creative writing at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen's University Belfast for spring 2015. Meitner has pub- lished three books, including Ideal Cities, a National Poetry Series winner in 2009.

»> Elyse Allan '79, Tu'B4, president and CEO of GE Canada, has been appointed a member of the Order of Canada for innovative busi- ness leadership and community engagement. Allan, who is a champion for the country 's science and technology base has previously been named a YWCA Woman of Distinction (2012) and to the Women's Executive Net- work's "Canada's Most Powerful Women" list (2011,2013).
