“There are plenty of head- aches,” screenwriter Budd Schulberg ’36 said of filming Winter Carnival on campus for six days in 1939. Among them: Producer Walter Wanger, class of 1915, had been forced to fire cowriter F. Scott Fitzgerald due to the author’s drunken binges. Critics agreed with Schulberg, but the flick still plays on cam- pus every Carnival Weekend.
