Five alumni will receive honors for their service to the College from the Alumni Council during its October 21 meeting. Dartmouth 2016-17 Alumni Awards will go to Philip Kron ’60, Tu’61, Charles Haldeman Jr. ’70 and Margaret Sommerfeld ’90, while Young Alumni Distinguished Service Awards will be presented to Maia Josebachvili ’05 and Shounak Simlai ’05, Th’07. >» Literary agent Ed Victor ’61 has been appointed a commander of the British Empire for services to literature. >>> Rich Stoddart ’85 has been promoted to global CEO of advertising agency Leo Burnett. Stoddart, who first joined the Chicago-based firm in 1985, will oversee 85 global offices and continue as CEO of Leo Burnett North America.
»> Kristen Dillon ’89, M.D., has been named the 2016 Oregon Family Doctor of the Year by the Oregon Academy of Family Physicians. Dillon has been practicing family medicine in Hood River for the past 15 years and is the director of the Columbia Gorge Coordinated Care Organization.
>» Meghan Sigvanna Topkok ’13, in her second year at the University of Oregon School of Law, has been elected president of the National Native American Law Students Association, which supports students interested in federal Indian law, tribal law and traditional forms of governance.
>» Douglas Chia ’93 has been named the executive director of the governance center of the N.Y.C.-based business research association, the Conference Board. Chia previously served as assistant general counsel and corporate secretary of Johnson & Johnson.
»> Andersen “Ann” Thorp, Adv’97, has
been chosen the 2015 Art Teacher of the Year by Creative Outlook magazine. Thorp has taught art for 28 years at Hartford (Vermont) High School, which she attended, and founded the Creative Improvement Council, a nonprofit that brings art to Vermont schools and businesses.
»> Kevin Demoff ’99, Tu’06, has been named to Sporting Business Daily’s “40 Under 40” list. Demoff is executive vice president for football operations at the Los Angeles Rams and oversawthe relocation ofthe team from St. Louis earlier this year.
