A star skater at Northeastern, Schuler remembers playing against Dartmouth back in the day. “It was always such a well-structured team,” she says of the Big Green. “That made it hard to play against them.” Now, with a lengthy resume of impressive playing and coaching credentials—most recently as the head of the Canadian national women’s team— Schuler aims to spark a turnaround for a team that’s suffered back-to-back losing seasons. The new coach shared with DAM what she feels will be keys to success with her new squad.
“Establishing good team chemistry and developing great leaders. It seems we already have a solid foundation when it comes to both of these areas. The players really seem to truly care about one another and have a very strong understanding of a team-first mentality.”
“Continuing to build a team that is capable of playing fast hockey.” She wants ateam that can “skate well, work hard and transition quickly from defense to offense.”
The season gets under way in October.
