Hello, ’14s! As a quick introduction, we (John Daniels and Sarah Rossow) have signed on as your new co-class secretaries with the goal of never having an empty Class Notes ever again. It’s been nearly a year since our last note, and there’s too much to cover and too little space here!

It turns out more than 60 of us are married to Dartmouth alums (including both of us), with at least 40 to other ’14s. And it looks as though this number’s about to go up: Rachael Bornstein and Aaron Mondshine got engaged in April!

Nicola Segal and Jorge Rodriguez T2 tied the knot in August 2020 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, followed by David Lerner and Alesy Iturrey in Miami in October. Alex Judson officiated the latter ceremony, and word has it he’s now in high demand.

Danielle Kerr was married January 29 in St. Augustine, Florida, in a small family ceremony (including sister Christine Kerr, of course). She’s looking forward to a larger reception in October and hopes to see ’14 classmates in attendance!

The year 2020 was a banner one for Grace McDevitt! In January she and her then-fiance went on a month-long trip to Australia and New Zealand, meeting up with fellow T4 Shelley Wenzel to ring in the newyear in Sydney. After coming home to burst pipes in frozen Wisconsin, Grace said “enough of this nonsense!” She married Sam Loveland (UW T4) on their front steps in May, Covid-style, with her parents on one half of the lawn and his on the other. In July she quit her j ob at Epic and in August they moved back to Pennsylvania, where Grace joined her dad (Ralph McDevitt ’82) on his team at Raymond James as a financial advisor. In October Grace and Sam bought a house in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, and in December they got a chocolate Lab puppy named Belle. Feel free to stop by and dip your feet in the pool or get some puppy snuggles if you’re in the area!

Congratulations to our T4 debut authors! Released in June, The Sea Is Salt and So Am I by Cassandra Hartt is “abook for young adults about climate change, mental health, and angsty teenagers.” And Samara Shanker recently announced her debut novel, Naomi TeitelhaumEnds the World. The “preteen fantasy adventure that gives traditional Jewish folklore a modern twist” will be published in fall 2022. Samara also writes in about the remote tutoring company she started in August 2020. While working as a private tutor during the pandemic, she realized how many children were struggling with distance learning and started Homeschool Heroes, which “provides fully remote tutoring and study skills services across the country to students of all ages who are struggling in school.”
