Carl T. Lind, we hear, has joined Analog Devices Inc. as manager of manufacturing, general operations, for the instruments and systems group. His responsibilities will include assembly and test operations. Carl received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School after graduating with a B.A. in engineering sciences from Dartmouth. After serving two years in the Army, Carl joined Texas Instruments in 1966, where he held various managerial positions in production control, manufacturing, industrial engineering, and engineering — most recently manufacturing manager. Carl and his wife Diane have three children and live in Attleboro, Mass. Carl's hobbies include landscaping, photography, and music. He also keeps busy with church and civic activities, including chairing the Evangelical Covenant Church and serving as director of United Way of Attleboro.

We also have further news about JohnStevens, who has been appointed a vice president of Boston Edison Company. John spent many years, from 1964 to earlier this year, rising through the ranks at New England Electric System, as we have noted in this column in the past. John held positions at New England Electric ranging from manager of residential promotion to executive vice president, in which role he was responsible for all aspects of licensing and constructing a nuclear power plant in Rhode Island. In his new position at Boston Edison, John will be in charge of corporate relations, including public information and public affairs.

This summer, Gordy and Judy Aydelott and their two daughters, Debby and Amy, spent some of their vacation in northern California. The whole family was able to spend a day in the country with the Fritzes which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Yes, we were able to get in a little tennis, with Gordy and Debby playing against Judy and me. Gordy's game seems as sharp as ever, so I won't report the results. A few nights later we had dinner with Gordy and Judy at a San Francisco-style, neighborhood French restaurant.

Also visiting us in the country this year were Manning Smith and his wife Ginny. As new Californians, they have become interested in wines, so drinking took precedence over athletics on that day.
