Kieran McNulty reports that he recently “had two research papers published in the journal Science (April 14) that upend our understanding of how early fossil apes evolved and of the habitats that contributed to their adaptations and the adaptations ofthe first hominins.” This work is based on Kieran’s decade-long Research on East African Catarrhine and Hominoid Evolution (REACHE) collaboration in eastern Africa, an innovative academic experiment that, “in a discipline typically known for territoriality and data hoarding, brought together multiple autonomous paleontological teams to work toward a set of common goals.”
The bells of Baker Tower toll for our classmate, Tony Choe, who died in May from complications related to the strokes he suffered earlier this year. A number of classmates attended funeral services in June and remembered his beautiful singing voice, tendency to wear shorts in all seasons, and above all deep commitment to his family and friends.
To honor Tony’s memory, take a moment this fall to reach out to a ’95 friend—perhaps one you haven’t been in touch with since our last reunion or even since graduation— and reconnect. There’s lots of great contact information in our 25th reunion book at dartmouth.brightcrowd.com/1995 and of course in the alumni directory accessible on the College website.
Keep your news coming!
