1992
asked ’92s: What is your favorite Halloween memory from our undergrad days?
Jennifer Miller’s favorite costumes were Vengeance and Vixen, the Women of Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW)! “Kathy O’Rourke and I looked mighty fine in our running tights, bathing suits, and huge champion belts made oftin foil as we went to a party at Alpha Delta.”
Geoff MacDonald wrote, “My favorite Dartmouth Halloween memory has to be driving a beat-up old hearse all over the Upper Valley as a promotion for 99 Rock, WFRD. The car hadn’t been inspected in years. The brakes clunked in a frightening way. It was covered in Halloweenthemed banners and soaped windows for the station. But it was big, black, bad, and fast! People loved to see it. I danced on the roof while it was parked outside of Pat & Tony’s, and I might have driven it through the president’s driveway one afternoon.”
Kelly Shriver Kolln said, “My favorite costume memory is Julia Hynes Shoff as Green Eggs and Ham-she attached real eggs and ham to her clothing and the campus dogs wouldn’t leave her alone. We were attending Bones Gate Tea in a Dr. Seuss-themed group, including Katherine Aires Byrnes (Thing 1), Betsy Cowles Gavron (Yertle), Linsley Craig Carruth (One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish), Tricia Twomey (Oh, the Places You’ll Go!), Tracey Tysenn MacDonald (The Cat), Jennifer Williams (Thing 2), and me (Fox in Socks). Other times we went as conversation hearts, painters, M&Ms, and traffic signs.”
Kristen (Morrow) Johnson wrote, “Well, it was not exactly our undergrad days but Brad Johnson and I got married on Halloween in 1998 with lots of Dartmouth friends there to mark the event. Joy (Knauf) Chun, Samantha (Scollard) Truex, Maureen (McGrath) Hahn, Dave Aznavorian, Doug Miniati, and Amanda (Johnson) Miller’95 were all attendants. Other’92s celebrating with us were Tommy Butler, Jonathan Kim, Stephen Blumenreich, Josh Stein, Raj Shah, Jay Caggiano, Jim Fitzpatrick, Dave Knoll, Eric Vratimos, Mike Mahoney, Mary (Breen) Andrews, and Ellen (Davis) Parish. (Sorry, I am sure I forgot folks too.) It was a great Dartmouth picture including older alums Jon and Diana Ruhl ’91, Bill Scollard, Carol Mueller, and Al Henning. Pretty epic and an easy anniversary date to remember! Brad and I pulled out the dress and tuxedo last Halloween to celebrate 25 years!”
Melissa Rich Skehan said, “I love Halloween! How can we do Halloween justice without photos?” Please envision her Dartmouth-era costumes: “Freshman year, Where’s Waldowith Christine Vanden Beukel, Suzanne Pesce, and Dan Frank (Waldo). Sophomore year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Junior year, me as the Little Mermaid and Jessie Levine as Sebastian.”
If you have photos of Melissa’s senior year costume, or any others, please post them in our Facebook group!
