Dartmouth was one of 10 schools that settled a 2022 federal price-fixing suit in February. The College, accused of collusion in determining student financial aid packages, agreed to pay $33.75 million.

BUDDY FOREVER

Starting October 5, the football stadium will be known as Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field in honor of the legendary coach, who died in September.

The men’s basketball team voted 13-2 to unionize in early March, with hopes to become paid employees of the College. The team’s next venue? Federal court.

Safety and Security officers have purchased four new Tesla Model Y electric cars and may eventually transition their vehicle fleet to all EVs.

UGLY INCIDENT

A Winter Carnival ice sculpture, carved by members of the Muslim student association and featuring a Palestinian flag, was vandalized. The Dean of the College has promised an investigation.

THE DOCTOR IS IN

Dr. Estevan Garcia started as chief health and wellness officer in March. He served as chief medical officer of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for the past two years.

CLASS ACT

President Sian Beilock plans to teach a course next winter. She’ll team with classics prof Paul Christesen and athletic director Mike Harrity for The American University Athlete in the 21st Century. “It should be a lot of fun and one of its kind,” she says.

NEW TRIO

The board has elected three new trustees: Will Griffith ’93, Maia Josebachvili ’05, and David Grain, Tu’89.

Josebachvili was nominated by the alumni body.

THE PRICE OF PROTEST

Fallout from the arrest of two students in October for criminal trespassing continues. Several students held a hunger strike that lasted a little more than a week, and an open letter signed by nearly 200 faculty, staff, and alumni said they were “deeply troubled by the criminalization of student protest at Dartmouth” and called for President Sian Beilock to ask prosecutors to drop the charges.

Men’s coach Reid Cashman won ECAC hockey coach of the year honors.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper ’91 and Georgetown University law professor Neal Katyal ’91 discussed the 2024 presidential election before a live audience on
