In January, a judge found Kevin Engel ’27 and Roan Wade ’25 guilty of one count each of misdemeanor criminal trespass for their protest on the Parkhurst lawn in October 2023. They were to be sentenced February 11.

A jury found Kyle Clampitt ’20 guilty of raping a first-year student on campus in 2022. He faces sentencing in April for convictions on 12 counts of aggravated felonious assault.

ALL TALK

Debate team members Ryan Lafferty ’26 and Madeleine Wu ’26 became the first Dartmouth duo to win the World Universities Debating Championship earlier this year. They are the first American team to win in seven years.

BUDDY’S LEGACY

Army’s football coach, Jeff Monken, was the first recipient of the new Buddy Teevens Award. The honor goes annually to a coach whose innovations improve the game.

HOLIDAY SPEAKER

Voting rights activist and Georgia politician Stacey Abrams delivered the keynote address at the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in January.

CALL OF THE WILD

Former head of outdoor programs Earl Jette died in December at age 85. “In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree, climb a mountain, go for a ski, or just take a moment to enjoy nature,” his family requested in his obituary.

This fall the Ivy football champion will compete in the NCAA Division 1 FCS playoffs for the first time after the league changed its outdated, 80-year-old policy that prohibited extra football.
