Frederick C. Southgate of Woodstock, Vt., was appointed in July judge of probate by Governor Mead to fill a vacancy caused bydeath, and in September was elected to the same position for the regular term.
Rev. Albert F. Newton closed his ten years' pastorate of the North Congregational church, Leominster, Mass., October 1, and has taken a pastorate at Dunstable, Mass.
