REGISTRATION OF SECOND SEMESTER

The enrollment of the four undergraduate classes for the second semester is as follows:

By comparison with the registration at the beginning of the academic year it will be seen that the decrease is largely in the freshman class and almost entirely in the two lower classes.' Since September the senior class shows a loss of three, and the junior class a loss of six, while the sophomores lose thirty-one and the freshmen fifty-eight. The results of the mid-year examinations, so disastrous to the hopes of many underclassmen, need careful consideration to determine the cause. It is probably the result of several causes which combined served to distract the attention of the students from their work during the critical two first months. In view of this it is significant that two thirds of the freshmen who failed were members of fraternities, whereas in the class at large less than fifty per cent are members.
