His father, a graduate of Dartmouth in 1838, removed to Chicago in 1859, and at his death in 1879 was one of the leading lawyers in Illinois. In college Mr. Evans became a member of Alpha Delta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa. Immediately after graduation he began the study of law in his father's office, and after his admission to the bar, in September, 1874, was received by the latter into partnership.
