MEDICAL ALUMNI REUNION
November, 1914

The one hundred and sixteenth reunion of the Medical Alumni was held at Hanover, Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3. Thirty-five returning graduates coming from five states and representing classes from 1878 to 1914 registered at the headquarters m College Hall

The festivities commenced Friday evening with a dinner in College Hall. Dean Gile acted as master of ceremonies and explained the circumstances which made it advisable to discontinue the instruction in the last two years of the school. Remarks were made by Flanders '81, Drake '83, Douglas 94, Kimpton '05, and Loder '08.

At ten o'clock Saturday morning, tne annual meeting was held in the lecture room of the old medical building. In the absence of President Stokes, Dr. Kimpton was elected temporary chairman. The report of the secretary and treasurer was read and accepted; it showed the association to be in good financial condition. President Nichols spoke pointedly concerning the school at present and its prospects in the future. He also emphasized the necessity of procuring a permanent endowment for the school. He mentioned the fact that Dartmouth was justly proud of her medical alumni and spoke of the courageous work being done in Germany at the present time by Smith and Worthen of the class of 1911.

The subject of the meeting of next year was discussed at some length, and the proposition of a more pretentious program was considered. The idea of combining the alumni meeting with a series of clinics in the various branches of medicine and inviting the New Hampshire Medical Society or the Surgical Club to be the guests of the Association at that time, was received favorably by all present. No definite action in the matter was taken, the decision being left in the hands of the president and the executive committee. It was voted, however, that the next meeting be held in Hanover, Dartmouth Night, 1915.
