James B. Haggerty better known as "Jim" to thousands of Dartmouth men, has retired after over 30 years spent in catering to the needs of undergraduates, and has left Hanover to return to his home town of Milford, Mass. During the time that he has been in Hanover, he has been actively connected with the college for 25 years, has conducted business of his own for six years, and was known at one time as the best baseball catcher in the district, playing with teams from Lebanon and other towns in this vicinity.
When he first came to Hanover, Mr. Haggerty conducted an eating club in the building where the College Bookstore is now located. He then took charge of the Grill and later opened and managed the Inn Coffee Room, where he has been manager until recently.
