MEDICAL SCHOOL GRADUATES MEET IN HANOVER
November 1923

The Dartmouth Medical Alumni Association held its reunion in Hanover October fifth and sixth, with a total registration of about eighty alumni. This was the first gathering of the medical alumni since 1920, when it was voted to have the next meeting in 1923 in celebration of the one hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of the official founding of Dartmouth Medical School. On Friday evening, October fifth, following registration, in the Little Theater of Robinson Hall, occurred the opening part of the program, an informal meeting of the medical alumni and faculty, with their wives and undergraduates, about one hundred and fifty persons in all. During the evening lantern slides were shown of the Medical School and College and former members of the medical faculty, dating back to a picture of the building, still standing on a different site, in which Nathan Smith conducted his first classes.

On Saturday the alumni held their regular business meeting, electing as president, Dr. H. S. Baketel '95, and as secretary-treasurer, Dr. F. P. Lord '03; in the afternoon they attended the Dartmouth-Maine football game, sitting in a group in the partially completed stadium; and in the evening seventy-four sat at a dinner in College Hall, presided over by Dr. H. S. Baketel, who introduced as Dr. E. J. Barlett, professor emeritus of Chemistry, Dr. H. C. Martin '98, Dr. H. M. Clute '14 (the last class to receive the degree of Doctor of Medicine) and President Hopkins.

The formal and informal discussion held by the alumni during their reunion concerned itself largely and most enthusiastically with the possibilities of the reestablishment of a four-year course in Dartmouth Medical School. The ALUMNI MAGAZINE hopes in the near future to print an article on this subject.
