THE COLLEGE
March 1958

HANOVER will long remember 1958 as the year of the Big Snow. The 31inch fall of February 16, coming on top of a supply of almost that depth, was a stored-up answer to all the D.O.C. prayers to St. Peter going clear back to the days of Otto Schniebs. Dartmouth usually takes its snow in stride, but not this time.

At the moment, Hanover's roads and walks resemble those Alpine chutes for bobsled races, and driving across an intersection is akin to Russian roulette. We salute the student who has mounted a slalom flag on his small sports car, so people will know he is coming.
