Playing in Webster Hall to a capacity audience made up of students alumni, townspeople, and members of the faculty, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra made its first appearance in Hanover, November 3. The concert was given under the auspices of the Department of Music which last year presented the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Under the auspices of the Department of Music also, and under the personal direction of Professor Maurice F. Longhurst, the Hanover Community Chorus assisted by the Players' Orchestra presented the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera "The Mikado" in Webster Hall, November 16. The performance was enthusiastically received and generally conceded to be the best amateur production ever staged in Hanover.
