HENNESSY '23 WINS TITLE AT N. E. SKATING CARNIVAL

Capturing four first places and amassing a total of 140 points James J. Hennessy '23, a student in the Medical School, for the third time won the amateur speed skating championship of New England in the meet held at Dorr's Pond, Manchester, in connection with the Winter Carnival there. By his victory Hennessy won the first leg on a two-year cup emblematic of skating proficiency in this section.

Hennessy won the 440-yard dash, the 1320- yard, 1820-yard and one-mile events and took a second in the three-mile race. He was defeated in the three-mile event by a slight margin, losing to Walter Thorne who was second in the meet with 95 pbints. McCarthy was third with SO points; Harry Thorne, fourth with 30; Corcoran fifth with 25 and Chasse sixth with 20.
