Boston University swimmers offered little opposition to the Dartmouth swimming team in a meet in the Spaulding Pool, January 19, which Dartmouth won by a score of 45 to 5. Dartmouth swimmers captured every first and second place and the relay race, the Boston points coming with third places in each of the events. Dartmouth's Winter Carnival audience on February 8 watched the invincible Yale swimming team score 43 points to Dartmouth's 19 in a meet in which three Spaulding Pool records were broken. Nearly all of the events were close, the 50-yard dash, the 100-yard swim, and the 220-yard swim being especially spirited. The relay race was also a close one until on the final lap Colgate, of Yale, pulled away from Algar, of Dartmouth, by a yard. The records made were for the 100-yard swim, by Bronson, of Yale, the 100-yard backstroke, by Algar, of Dartmouth, and the relay race, won by Yale. At West Point, February 16, the Dartmouth swimmers won their second meet of the season, taking five of the seven events on the program. Ballantyne, of Dartmouth, established a new Dartmouth record in the 100yard swim, getting through the water in 58 4-5 seconds. Hutchison and Langworthy cap- tured the first two places in the 220-yard swim, Algar won the 50-yard backstroke, Blunt, the diving contest, and the relay team finished ahead of the Army quartet.
