DEATH OF JACK WATSON SERIOUS LOSS TO FOOTBALL TEAM

Word has been received of the death of Jack Watson, trainer of the football team, by heart failure on June 15, at his home in Des Moines, lowa. Mr. Watson had been engaged in athletics for thirty-four years, until 1898 following the Caledonian games as a broad and high-jumper and hurdler. In 1897 he .went to Grinnell College as track coach, becoming head coach of all sports two years later. In 1904 he accepted a position at lowa State College remaining there until 1913 when he went to the University of lowa. He came to Dartmouth in 1921.

Through his technical skill and faithful performance of duty he had become a valuable member of the athletic staff and his loss will be keenly felt by the Athletic Council and the individual members of the teams.
