A meeting of the Trustees of Dartmouth College was held in their room in the Parkhurst Administration Building in Hanover, New Hampshire, on June 16, 1924.
There were present President Hopkins, and Messers. Parkhurst, A. O. Brown, Thayer, Gile, Lord, Little, Howland and Dußois.
Letter from Mrs. Nichols
A letter was received from Mrs. Nichols in appreciative reply to the communication of the Trustees on the death of her husband, ex-President Ernest Fox Nichols.
Election of Trustees
A letter was received from Eugene F. Clark, Secretary of the Alumni Association, stating that Clarence B. Little had been nominated by the Alumni Council to fill the vacancy caused by his own resignation at the expiration of his term of five years, and that the nomination had been ratified by the alumni; and further stating that Morton C. Tuttle had in like manner been nominated by the Council and the nomination had been confirmed by the alumni to succeed to the vacancy caused by the death of Harry H. Blunt and to complete his unexpired term.
Thereupon ballots were cast and it appeared that unanimous choice was severally made of Clarence B. Little as a trustee to succeed himself in office, and of Morton C. Tuttle as a trustee to succeed Harry H. Blunt.
Award of degrees in course
On the recommendation of the Faculty, made through Dean Craven Laycock, degrees were awarded to 348 men of the class of 1924 as printed on the Commencement program, for other classes as follows : Suydam, Martin Johnson A. Rathburn E. Sprague
Whereas it appears that by an error the name of Rathburn E. Sprague of the class of 1911 does not appear in the recorded list of the names of those who were awarded degrees in that year, it waS
Voted that the degree of Bachelor of Arts be awarded to Rathburn Eaton Sprague as of the year 1911, and that a note be made in the record of 1911, calling attention to this vote.
Leave of absence to Rees H. Bowen

Voted to ratify the action of the Executive Committee taken at their meeting in January, 1924, Thereupon by ballot Foster E. Guyer was elected Professor of French and Shirley G. Patterson was elected Professor of Romance Languages.
Election and Promotion
On the recommendation of the President, George W. Stocking was elected Assistant Professor of Economics.
Howard E. Israel was promoted from Instructor to Assistant Professor of Psychology.

Robert W. Elsasser as Instructor in Economics.
Harvey W. Cohn as Assistant in the Recreational Department.
John Seiler Brubacher as Instructor in Education.
Donald L. Stone as Instructor in Political Science.
Franklin McDuffee as Instructor in English. Housing of Ununirried Instructors
A communication was received from the heads of departments concerning the housing of unmarried instructors and was referred to he Committee on the Physical Development of the Plant.
Plans for Hockey Rink
Plans for a hockey rink were presented and referred to the Committee on the Physical Development of the Plant.
Development of the Plant
Voted that the Committee on the Physical Development of the Plant be authorized to have made such further studies for the future development of the college plant as they may consider desirable, taking into consideration the location as already determined for the President's house and the location of a library in the center of the square north of the College Green with its principal face to the west as fixed by a vote of the Trustees passed November 8, 1919.
The Treasurer appeared and presented various matters of business.
Gift of Mrs. Charles O. Miller
On the statement of the Treasurer that Mrs. Charles O. Miller of Stamford, Connecticut, had made a gift of $10,000 in carrying out the intent of her husband, Charles O. Miller of the class of 1899, to establish a fund for a fellowship, it was
Voted--that the Trustees gratefully accept the gift of $10,000 by Mrs. Charles O. Miller to establish a fund for a fellowship in the College and that they hereby ratify the action of the Treasurer in executing a declaration of trust for the College.
Timber in Pine Park
Voted that authority is hereby given to the directors of the Pine Park Association to make such sale of timber from that property as may be desirable from the standpoint of proper thinning and improvement.
