Roughly speaking there must be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 athletes in the college today—roughly speaking. This estimate allows for a duplication of names in the cases of those men who do a bit of ground and lofty tumbling on the green felt as well as on the green sward. Jesse Hawley has about SO candidates taking his course in intensive football and Sid Hazelton is showing the fine points of the game to a similar number of freshmen. Sid's freshmen if laid end to end —and what fun it would be to try it—would reach from here to Concord allowing for detours and selvedge. If the right tackles ever get their growth they'll be able to see over, if not through, any play sent in their vicinity or points east.

Some people are still wandering around the Alpine golf course trusting that the St. Bernard dogs will be sent out—fully equipped—if the blizzards become more severe. Others, including a leading merchant of Main street and members of what the Administration Building calls "the instruction corps" are shut up in cages having violent attacks of hand-ball. A somewhat larger group is having a lot of fun playing ring-around-the-radiator and fill-the- furnace.

Prospects are excellent for one of the best dog-sledge seasons in many years.
