OUTING CLUB PUBLISHES HANDBOOK
February 1925

A little booklet has just appeared from the press entitled "Dartmouth Outing Club Handbook" which contains much interesting and valuable information for the hiker. The book, attractively bound in cloth, was compiled by, A. C. C. Hill, Jr. '25 and published by the Outing Club. It is appropriately dedicated "To Johnny Johnson."

The first part of the handbook contains general information concerning the cabins and trails and is followed by a section devoted to each cabin with a description of the cabin and its site and the circumstances of its erection together with detail of the trail leading to it. Following the guide book section is a valuable department devoted to equipment, giving advice as to clothing under varying weather conditions, skiis, snowshoes, creepers, first aid, packs, food, sample meals, and a check list of articles. The available maps are also listed and a brief bibliography of valuable publications. Interest is also added to the booklet by a number of cuts, two of which appear on this page, and the opposite one. In reviewing the book for The Dartmouth, Mr. N. L. Goodrich, College Librarian, writes: "I have long been a collector of such out-door guides and manuals, and I have never seen one better adapted to its purpose than this, or more likely to arouse the interest and envy of the outsider."

The book may be obtained for fifty cents from the comptroller of the Outing Club, Hanover, N. H.
