Victory in the relay race, the final event, gave Rutgers the edge in the Carnival swimming meet. The college tank men took but two firsts, Brugiere capturing the dive and Slater placing first in the back stroke. However, by taking every second place but one and breaking even in thirds, they were able to stay in the running. The feature of the meet was the victory of Von Stanley of Rutgers. in the plunge. To win he was forced to lower the New England Intercollegiate record held by Bogart who placed second. The new time was 39 1-5 seconds.
