Announcement is made from the President's office of the appointment of a committee which will have charge of the work formerly carried on by Professor Husband as director of personnel research. The members of the committee are: Prof. H. R. Wellman, chairman, Prof. C. L. Stone, Dr. M. A. Harrington, Dr. W. R. P. Emerson, and Prof. C. R. Lingley.
During the present, semester the members will offer their services to undergraduates in furnishing information which will be of aid to them in selecting a profession or in defining their life's, work. The members of the committee have expressed their willingness and their desire to carry on the pioneer work of Professor Husband, and at such time as a new director may be appointed to give him the work of this office.
Professor Wellman of the Tuck School has had extensive experience in chamber of commerce work and in the capacity of executive of a large business organization, and at the present time is carrying on work of an advisory nature for several business corporations. Professor Stone has been instructor and assistant professor of psychology at various institutions and has contributed various articles on psychology to scientific publications. Doctor Harrington, consultant in mental hygiene, has had a varied experience in medical work in hospitals, in schools and in private practice. Doctor Emerson, medical consultant in nutrition and physical fitness, is one of the foremost men in nutrition work in the country, and his services are in constant demand by individuals, hospitals and edutational institutions. Professor Lingley of the History Department has been a member of the Dartmouth faculty since 1907, and is the author of various articles and books on phases of history. Amongst other positions held during the war he was district supervisor of personnel methods.
