The second year of the College Chest with its combined contributions to the different causes aided by undergraduate subscription was successful in large measure even though marred by non-payment of many pledges. Preventing, as it does, the conducting of separate drives and allowing a division of funds proportionate to the importance of the work to be accomplished the chest system has proved a decided improvement over the old method. Last year undergraduate contributions amounting to $5700 were divided among six organizations. More than $7500 was collected in cash and pledges during the drive. Difference between the above amounts is entirely due to nonpayment of pledges.
Following are the disbursements from the chest: Red Cross $1000 Dartmouth-in-China 1 Near East Colleges 500 Student Friendship Fund 900 Atlanta University Dartmouth Christian Assoc. 2100 Total $5700
