The Outing Club has selected February 10, 11 and 12 as the dates for the 17th annual Dartmouth Winter Carnival and has appointed numerous committees to take charge of this bright spot in the drab winter months after mid-years.
The occasional D. O. C. trips to nearby mountains have drawn numerous parties of students into the outdoors and the success of these short hikes encouraged the Outing Club directors to arrange for one of the most comprehensive series of trips over the .Thanksgiving holidays ever attempted by the Club. Three groups of student and faculty hikers went to the top of Mount Moosilaukee and traversed the Franconia range and a fourth party climbed to the summit of Mount Washington. A fifth group spent the weekend on Mount Moosilaukee exploring the numerous ravines and shoulders. The response to these offers was so great that a sixth party was organized in time to make the trip to the Armington Pond cabin during the vacation. For undergraduates who wished to enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner in the'woods and still did not want to take any of the longer trips, the usual feed was held at Moose cabin.
The D. O. C. heelers have already gone to work clearing the brush on the land in Norwich, the location of Newton Cabin, the gift of Mr. James W. Newton '86 of Boston. This new addition to the Outing Club chain of cabins provides a cabin with sleeping accommodations within easy reach of the campus.
