Rev. Ben M. Washburn of Kansas City was at Rutland, Vt., where he officiated at the marriage of his sister, on November 11.
On December 6, a despatch from Seattle, to the New York Herald-Tribune, indicates a new corporation, involving a consideration of $5,000,000 to $6,000,000, known as the Superior Portland Cement, Inc., which plans to purchase the Superior Portland Cement Cos. The despatch states: "A hundred thousand shares of stock will be issued, and a wide distribution of the preferred stock is planned. The Superior Portland Cement Company is the largest concern of its kind... in the Pacific Northeast. The last available records indicate this Company belonging to Sam Barnes and Bill Jennings, or at least that they were associated with it.
Some members of the class will recall John Carlton Burton, who transferred to Chicago University after his freshman year. Dick Southgate reports seeing him occasionally, and that he is now with the Lennon & Mitchell agency, which is an advertising concern. He also does considerable writing.
Harry Wellman discussed "Sales Plans for 1926" at a sales meeting held at the Boston Chamber of Commerce building on January 9, under the auspices of the Executives Club of the Chamber.
Roland R. Tileston, professor of physics in Pomona College, Claremont, Cal., gave a lecture on the electronic nature of matter on the evening of December 8, illustrated by the equipment recently added to his department. This lecture was given to a group made up of members of the trustees and faculty of the college and a limited number of students, and was repeated the next evening to a larger group of students. The local paper printed an extended summary of the lecture.
