W. A. Campbell '26 and H. S. Morrison '26 were among the 25 students recommended to the Carnegie Corporation by the committee for scholarship in this country and abroad. The money used for these awards is the income of $1,000,000 recently set aside by the company to increase the number of qualified teachers of fine arts in the colleges. If the winners maintain a sufficiently high average, the appointments will be renewed for three years ; the first year's award will be $12,00, the second $1600, the third $2000.
Dartmouth was fortunate in that both her candidates, recommended by the division of Fine Arts, were appointed. . The contestants were first interviewed by a regional committee in Boston, and, not having been eliminated, they were interviewed by the national committee in New York.
Campbell has had an average of 4.0 during the last four semesters and is majoring in Greek. He expects to study the history of art for two years in Princeton and for one year at the University of Paris. He is a member of The Arts, Round Robin, Kappa Phi Kappa and Theta Delta Chi fraternities.
Morrison is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society is second in scholarship standing in the senior class and is majoring in Fine Arts. He also expects to study for two years at Princeton.
