June, 1926

In their second encounter this season Dartmouth's ball team again defeated Cornell, taking by a score of 12 to 8 a loosely played game at Ithaca, May 8.

Dartmouth was forced into an up-hill battle when Cornell took a three run lead in the first inning, but tied the count in the second inning when Michelini walked, stole second, and scored on McLaughlin's safe hit, Van Riper singled, Elliott walked, and with the bases full Hudgins delivered a hit that scored two runs.

Baker's three base hit and a sacrifice fly by Dupree gave Cornell the lead once more in the fourth inning, but in the fifth Dartmouth again overhauled the Maroon players, scoring four runs on one hit, three bunts, and three Cornell errors.

Cornell scored two more runs in the sixth inning, but the Hanover players drew farther and farther away adding a run in each of the succeeding innings. During the game Dartmouth players batted four Cornell pitchers for a total of 10 hits, which, aided by six Cornell errors, accounted for 12 runs.
