During the period November 4th to 9th inclusive, when the whole north country was inundated by flood waters, the broadcasting station at Dartmouth, known as IYB, gave invaluable service in handling messages relative to the flood. In all sixty-three messages went through the Hanover station, fifty of which originated here, six were relayed, and the remaining seven were delivered. The messages were mostly of a personal nature. Three were inquiries as to the whereabouts of persons believed to be lost. A' resident of Burlington, Vermont, informed his relatives in West Canaan, New Hampshire, of his safety through station IYB when they believed him to be lost.
The log of the Dartmouth station shows that IYB was on the air sixteen hours November 4th and an average of eight hours a day thereafter as long as the flood lasted.
