Fire at Zeta Psi House
DECEMBER 1927

Fire which broke out at 3 a. m. November 16 in the furnace room of the new Zeta Psi house at the corner of Webster Avenue and Tuck Drive caused a damage of $1,000, which was covered by insurance. The flames were confined to the furnace room, which was completely gutted. L. B. Terry '28, who was sleeping on the third floor, was awakened by the smoke and went around to the back of the house and shut the outside door of the furnace room, cutting off the draft which was fanning the fire. Then he woke the IS other occupants who were asleep on the sleeping porch. In getting out through the dense smoke, J. O. Skinner '28 fractured a bone in his right hand. The fire is believed to have been started by defective wiring.

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity has broken ground in the rear of their house on College street for the construction of a new brick house. It will be in Georgian style to harmonize with the new library. When the new house is completed the old one will be taken away and a large lawn laid out. The house will cost $40,000, the limit set by the Board of Trustees.
