SIR HERBERT AMES SPEAKS IN HANOVER
MAY 1927

For several days during the past month Sir Herbert Brown Ames, KT. LL.D., until recently Financial Director of the League of Nations, which post he had held for seven years, addressed classes in history and spoke to various gatherings in Hanover on phases of the League of Nations work.

Sir Herbert, who was graduated from Amherst in '85 and received the honorary degree of LL.D. from his alma mater in 1915, for many years represented the city of Montreal in the Canadian House of Commons, was one of the Canadian delegates at the coronation of George V as King of England, and later in charge of the Canadian Patriotic Fund raised during the World War. Since his retirement from the Financial Directorship of the League of Nations he has been addressing Canadian and American audiences upon subjects relating to the League.

In Hanover Sir Herbert delivered two public addresses, spoke before the Graduate Club and the Social Science Club, and lectured to several of the classes in history.
