Additional evidence of the usefulness of the Dartmouth College Club in New York is contained in the November issue of the "Bulletin," the Club's monthly publication, in which appear the reports of the Board of Governors and of the Treasurer.
In the Board's report, appear such items of general alumni interest as the fact that more than 1100 Dartmouth men are enrolled as members, nearly 500 of these being nonresident. These men, visiting in New York, in addition to resident members living at the Club permanently, have kept the sleeping rooms so much in demand that extra rooms had to be reserved in an adjoining building during the past winter. More than 300 prospective freshmen were interviewed at the Club by alumni committees during the Christmas holidays, and the annual Sophomore Fathers dinner had a total attendance of nearly 200.
About 2000 persons found the Club's special train service to the Yale game to be the most comfortable means of getting there, while more than 3500 tickets for the game were sold to the public through the Club.
Class dinners, which previous to the founding of the Club, were held in a rather hit or miss fashion at different restaurants, are now monthly fixtures, and naturally the attendance is increasing.
It seems likely that the present club house will prove before long to be inadequate to care for the constantly increasing member- ship.
The Treasurer's report showed a net operating profit about double that of last year, and a very satisfactory surplus account. This warrants the soundness of the Club's financial position, and emphasizes the fact that the proper time was chosen for the establishment of a permanent focal point for all Dartmouth interests in New York.
D. Basil O'Connor '12, and Robert G. Clarke '15, were elected to take the places respectively of C. Henry Hathaway '07, president, and Orton H. Hicks '21, secretary, whose terms expired. R. G. Burns '12 was elected vice-president and Nathan C. Lenfestey '13 was re-elected treasurer, C. E. Griffith '15, James F. Heenahan '14 and W. Lee White '12 were elected to the board of governors.
The Club's activities for the fall and winter include the usual boat trip to the Harvard game, the trains to the Yale game, a special train to the Pow-wow, and the cruise to the West Indies.
