Through a bequest of Robert H. Parkinson '70, who died in Chicago on December 26, 1927, Dartmouth College will receive the sum of $10,000.
Mr. Parkinson was one of a Dartmouth family, having one brother, George B. in the class of '75, and another, William D., in the class of '78. Another brother also holds an honorary degree from Dartmouth, although not a graduate of the College.
Most of Mr. Parkinson's active life was spent in Chicago in the practice of patent law. Professor James F. Colby '72, a life-long friend, writes of him :
"I am justified in saying that he maintained to the last the well merited position which he long ago won in the front rank of patent attorneys at the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. There for a full quarter of a century he had taken an important and influential part in the litigation which has settled in leading cases the interpretation and application of our existing Patent law."
A more extended notice of Mr. Parkinson's life and activities will be found in a later section of this MAGAZINE.
