Announcement of the award of fellowships on the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has recently been made as a result of which seventy-five young American scholars, scientists and artists will spend all or part of the coming year in study and research abroad. The awards which total $173,000 for the coming year have been male to fellows from twentystates. Fifty-nine new fellows nave been appointed and sixteen have been reappointed to complete the studies or projects begun during the past year. The stipend is usually $2500 for a period of twelve months. Among those reappointed to a fellowship for the coming year is Leonard D. White 'l4, Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, who will continue his study of the trade unions and professional organizations in the public service of Great Britain.
